Firesman John Partridge Dies After City Fire
John H. Partridge, longtime Bridgport volunteer fireman born 1849, died after a firemen’s effort to save lives. A resident at 161 Mary Street, he was one of three living members of the Excelsior Volunteer Fire Company. He became unconscious during the blaze and never regained consciousness. Partridge spent a lifetime fighting fires and protecting others, starting in his youth when he joined the fire service.
