William H. Vanderbilt, noted Newport and New York clubman, was arrested by state police near Clinton on two speeding charges. He paid a total $34.62 in fines and costs after Justice William A. Ward found him guilty. The officer testified Vanderbilt was driving at high speed and he did not deny the charges. He was identified by his operator’s license.
New Jersey prosecutors plan to bar Frances Nott Hall widow of the rector from testifying before the grand jury probing the Hall Mills murder. Deputy A G Mott will be in town to press the case while James Mott and Joseph Speier provide alibi details and a new witness emerges about Hall’s movements on the night of the shootings.
Stratford Nov 5 The Stratford Theater manager Marty Feldman was arrested and the Sunday moving pictures show halted after authorities warned him he needed council permission. Feldman posted 150 bond and was released. The town charter allows council approval or denial with a referendum option if 15 percent sign. Hunter will raise the issue at the next town council meeting.
George M. Chapman aged 72 registrar of voters in Waterbury since 1904 died today at Grace Hospital New Haven. He was a grand master of Connecticut Odd Fellows and a grand representative at his death. He belonged to Toantic tribe Red Men and Liberty lodge F. & A. M. of Waterbury.

The obituary notes his civic and military service and mentions political remarks by Benjamin Slade on tariff and income tax.
John Henry Roraback, Hartford Republican chair, forecast victory by about 50,000 votes if state totals reach a set threshold. He predicted Senator McLean to lead, five Republican congressmen returned, and substantial majorities in both state houses, noting past forecasts versus final counts.
