Fairfield Town Election Produces Large Sullivan Victory
In Fairfield yesterday Democratic incumbent John J. Sullivan won a decisive victory over Republican Gerald E. Malafronte carrying 11 of 14 districts. Sullivan's margin was 11 708 to 9789, with Conservative Dimitl L. Kin ney dismissed as a factor. The win also returns Democrats to RTM control with 30 Democrats and 19 Republicans elected. James L. Eldridge was reelected Selectman alongside Sullivan, while State Rep. Joseph T. Gormley, a Republican, won the third Board of Selectmen seat. Mary Katona, Democrat, won Town Clerk in a high turnout race. Board of Finance winners were Democrats Como and Kunin and Republican Glover, extending the board’s 6 to 3 balance.
