Tralee County Kerry suffered fires and blackout as reprisals followed two police officers shot near the town. Notices warned of further retaliation if the men were harmed, with civilian deaths reported and traffic barred. In New York and across the country the Republican ticket led by Warren G. Harding appears to have a landslide win. Cox suffers crushing defeat while Harding nears 275 electoral votes with large popular margins in major states. Roosevelt and Debs show strength in urban districts as Democrats cling to the South. Senate may tilt Republican.
Paul Lartezeriek of 171 Pembroke Street was fatally injured when struck by a trolley at East Main and Steuben last night. He crossed as the car approached, was unconscious upon ambulance arrival, and underwent emergency surgery at Bridgeport Hospital with grave doubts about survival. Motorman Timothy Fitzpatrick reported warning blasts were ignored as Lartezeriek crossed. He remained in critical condition at the hospital. DETROIT. Mich. In partial returns from 140 of 168 towns, Brandegee trails Tigret while Lake defeats Tyler in the contest. Republicans sweep all five congressional districts as Harding leads Cox in Connecticut with about 143,000 votes. Brandegee’s ticket shows gains, with the statewide vote shaping a strong GOP showing.

Dayton dispatch reports Governor Cox’s paper issued an extra edition before 11 o clock conceding the election of Republican Senator Harding. Cox and his paper published returns under the banner but the governor would not comment. The Dayton News carried the leads as election day progressed.

Democrats and Republicans alike were surprised as women leaders voiced disappointment over the 19th amendment stand and high turnout appeared limited. Republican Town Chairman John A Leonardin credited women with the victory in an interview after the election returns were announced. He issued a statement outlining the local situation and his figures forecasting the result.
