1500 Costumed Children in PAL Parade Prizes Awarded

More than 1500 masqueraders marched in the seventh annual PAL Halloween parade along Main street to Lafayette square where prizes were awarded after two hours of entertainment. Daniel Lewis, 10, and Deirdre Radoczki, 9, were crowned King and Queen. Raymond and Marion Bortnick won most original in a scarecrow and tiny scientist act. other prizewinners included Kenneth Ruge and several small children in comical and cute costumes.

Fire damages mail box at Madison Avenue and Eckhart Streets

A storage box on Madison Avenue at Eckhart Streets was damaged by a fire of unknown origin around 7 30 last night. A passer by saw smoke from the metal holder and alerted firemen. The emergency truck answered a still alarm at 7 35. The box contents were turned over to the Postal Inspector.
