Old Vets Parade in Memorial Day Observance

Thousands lined the streets and Sea side Park to witness a Memorial Day parade and exercises. Veterans, families, and loved ones paid silent tribute to those who fought for the Republic, as floral offerings were laid at the Soldiers and Sailors monument. Elder veterans led the march with Grand Marshal Arthur C. Bennett, while divisions included American Legion groups and veterans’ organizations marching through Fairfield avenue.

A 15 year old Salvation Army girl from Winsted named Cushman wed 21 year old Robert Trev two days earlier in Albany New York. They were found together in this city on Memorial Day and held at police headquarters as crowds cheered outside.
