Revenue collectors to conduct hearings on tax deficiencies
Washington May 2 AP Supervising internal revenue agents are authorized by Commissioner Blair to conduct field hearings on deficiency assessments under the new tax law. Taxpayers receive a copy of the examiner report and proposed charges and have 30 days to respond with a possible hearing. Appeals follow a Washington unit review, with field decisions subject to income tax unit review, and immediate assessments may continue if delay endangers collection. In wilful evasion cases the examiner's report is withheld.
