Servant in Danbury Fined for Theft in City Court

Mrs Mary Hart was fined 850 and costs and sentenced to six months in jail by Judge Samuel A Davis after pleading guilty to theft in Danbury Biay 24. She was a top maid in the home of Thomas A LaPine 70 Rose street and allegedly took a fur neck piece a diamond ring a diamond clan pearl necklace and a dress valued around 400. All items were recovered except the dress.

Petrified Apple Mystery Solved by Danbury Man

Danbury's petrified apple mystery was solved when Warren C. Mercier identified the so called apples as a type of nut from the Solomon Islands. He had brought carloads from Australia 12 years ago. Local children found samples near the American Hatters and Partiers factory, rubbed them to a red polish, and sent one to a university for analysis.

New corporation takes Hincks property on Main Street

Hincks Bros. & Co transfers the 880 Main Street office building and adjacent store to City Guaranty and Security Co in a deed filed with the town clerk. Robert S. Hincks notes the charter dates to 1925 with $250,000 capitalization, all stock held by Hincks Bros. & Co. as a partnership. The firm will rent back the Main Street property for office use while the new company remains with Hincks Bros. & Co. in investment banking activities.

22 Men Arrested in Worcester Strike Riot

Worcester May 24 AP reports 22 men arrested for disturbing the peace and two injured as four riots erupted at firm job sites during a building labor strike. Police prepared drastic steps, including possible injunctions tomorrow to curb pickets, as about 700 on strike affect 2,000 workers and delay city projects.

Fifty Five Crews Enter American Henley Regatta on Schuylkill

Philadelphia May 24 AP fifty five college and club crews entered in the American Henley regatta on the Schuylkill next Saturday. The Childs cup race features Columbia Pennsylvania and Princeton with Harvard and Princeton racing side by side in two events.
