Poincare Tries to Resign as Senate Fails to Try Reds
Monday night a three vote majority was needed to drop three teachers from the payroll. Kiely Mallon and McAndrew faced possible reappointment tabling amid protests by the Teachers Association. Ten Sentenced in Philadelphia for Liquor Conspiracy

Three Daughters Die In Md Cottage Fire Rescue Attempt
A mother Mrs. Mary O Connor aged 94 and her three daughters died after burning leaves ignited gas in a cottage at Mountain Lake Park. The daughters rushed inside to save their mother but perished. Also killed were Miss Kate O Connor and Mr. Jett Grannon and Mrs. Mary Rooney. Two thousand dollars in gold was found hidden in a chimney and turned over to authorities.

Woman killed in home by bandit during jewelry theft
Dorothy A. Merritt of 1874 North Avenue died after a bandit battered her skull with a revolver butt during a January 2 jewelry theft at her home. Two men bound her sister Tiina and ransacked drawers, taking a diamond ring and other pieces. Police have no identified suspects.
