Two Hartford Executives Rescued After Boat Capsize
Two Greater Hartford executives Edward J. Lehan East Hartford and Frank A. Burke Wethersfield were rescued after their fishing boat capsized on the Connecticut river near the Enfield dam. A submerged ledge tore off the motor causing the craft to overturn around 6:15 p.m. Police and boat crews assisted, towing the damaged vessel as bystanders helped until safety. Lehan is assistant vice president of the Connecticut Bank and Trust and Burke is executive director of the Connecticut Mortgage Investment Exchange.

Prison Escape Ends With 13 Hours Of Freedom In Hartford

Bear mauling at Racine zoo shocks onlookers
Ten year old Mary Hoibner of Waukegan Illinois was bitten and clawed by a European brown bear at Racine public zoo while on an outing. She underwent three hours of emergency surgery on her right arm and was reported in good condition. Zoo staff used a tree limb and iron bar to beat off the animal, and the cage bars were bent open to free her arm.
