Dineen said action will follow to fix responsibility for deaths caused by the blast.
George Stapleton, a well known Bridgeport resident long active in the trucking business, died last night at his home 743 Washington Avenue after a year of ill health. He was born in Done, and the notice continues on another page.
A New York report based on data from clothing, furnishing, fuel and rents shows the total cost of living declined 17.5 percent in eight months from the wartime peak. Washington on May 20 reports Wayne Wheeler, counsel for the Anti Saloon League, testified before a House committee that district prohibition clerks earned more in a week through fraudulent permit schemes than their two-years’ salary. Wheeler argued most of the $5,000,000 gallons were beverage use and urged tighter controls, including denaturing liquor before removal.
A general strike was declared in Civitavecchia after a pitched battle between Fascisti and longshoremen in which several were killed and many wounded. Military forces quelled the strike as rebels clashed with police. Revolver duels and fires at labor headquarters in Milan and other cities followed amid ongoing clashes near Mantua and elsewhere.
Alva J Sayles, 49, former representative of Sterning in the General Assembly about 15 years ago, and a leading figure in the Democratic party in the section, died at his home here today.

Beardsley of Bridgeport faces a two month suspension starting June 4 for allowing unlicensed Barry Nadelson to practice at his New Britain office. Nadelson was convicted and fined in city court.
