Two Waterbury youths sent to reformatory for burglary
Nelson Martin and William Robinson, both 17, pleaded guilty to statutory burglary in Criminal Superior Court and were given indeterminate sentences to the Connecticut reformatory. Martin is partially paralyzed on the right side. They were arrested February 28, 1927 in Westport after neighbors reported a forced entry at Frances Bierck’s home. The boys claimed they were walking to New York to dry their wet feet, a plea state officials rejected. Robinson has a long record, including a prior escape from the George Junior Republic, and in 1928 admitted burglaries of 14 Waterbury stores. Both youths were on probation from Waterbury City Court at the time.
