Two pilots Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan are ready for a 214 hour spacewalk and moon flight technique rehearsals from Cape Kennedy. Launch is planned for 12 39 p m EDT after an 11 20 countdown to fire the Agena target and Titan rocket. A smooth prelaunch briefing noted preparations as the weather improved.
A three day conference on health in the Bridgeport region opened with Dr Elwyn M Smolen directing the event. Manila AP report says 262 aboard the steamer Pioneer Cebu were battered by Typhoon Irma off Malapascua Island Cebu. Radio contact failed since afternoon. rescue officials fear for passengers and crew in life jackets as waves surge over the 740 ton vessel.
Connecticut faces a sweeping anti-pollution plan from a 100 member Clean Water task force. It recommends $150 million in state bonds for sewage treatment facilities and for prefinancing federal aid, with total needs possibly reaching $230 million including municipal and industrial waste treatment. The plan envisions state and federal funding with local towns contributing. Thomas F. Malone chairs the task force.

Edward Waniolek, 40, of Detroit, is held for murder after entering the Socialist Workers party office and firing nine bullets at three students. Leo Bernard, 28, killed. two wounded, Jan Garrett 22 and Walter Graham 19, identified Waniolek from a photo. The incident occurred near Wayne State University with Waniolek arrested hours later.
Juan Miguel Cura, 32, of Miami, Florida, a suspect in the slaying of a New York City man, may fight extradition if charged with murder. He appeared in Bridgeport Circuit Court on a murder charge tied to the May 1 shooting of Thomas Frias Berchi, 41, of the Bronx, with the case continued to May 23.
In Saigon Monday night Viet Cong squads attacked a South Vietnamese police patrol in the dock area and raided four police posts. One policeman killed and two hurt. a civilian injured.
