Geneva reports Britain wins a majority to exclude warships and aircraft from license control over armaments trade at the International conference. Debate over submarines tanks and arms sales to de facto governments highlights tensions among nations and warnings about Bolshevism.
Merritt says Ripper misplaces power and condemns legislative interference. Garrity nears city auditor post as education board renames Reiily with added duties. City hears court views church state mix while others face appointments and meetings.
Colonel John Coolidge father of the President suffered a collapse at his Plymouth Vermont home. White House dispatches later said he had recovered and was resting comfortably. No direct word from Coolidge reached the White House. Officials stressed there was no cause for alarm and no urgent travel was planned.
Eight men charged in the Sse Kral Cathedral bombing were sentenced to death by court martial. Three others received six and three year terms. Names include Peter Zadgorsk, Mario Friedmann, Georg Koeff. executions ordered publicly for Friedmann and Koeff, privately for Zadgoraki. Remaining convicts face heavy payments.
Senator Borah calls for the World Court to be free from League control to advance peace and international law. He favors an independent judicial tribunal, limited changes to the statute, and argues the league’s influence risks politicizing the court and affecting decisions on war or peace.
Louis Ginand president of the David Ginand Cutlery Company and secretary of the Frisbie Pie Company died after a three week illness at Bridgeport Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport on January 23, 1884 and lived at Belview Avenue. He led the cutlery business with his family, joined Frisbie Pie around 34 years ago, and sang tenor in local churches and groups. He is survived by his wife Hazel Potter, two daughters Katherine and Caroline, his parents Augustus and Mrs Ginand, and a sister Mrs Treat Oleg of Milford.
Edward J. Reilly, athletic coach at Bridgeport High, was renamed with additional duties by the School board yesterday. John A. Kinscella was raised $500 to $3,300. Reilly remains ineligible to teach physical education amid plans to shift to fulltime central unit, with cafeteria assistant and coaching duties at $2,200 starting September 1. Several staff moves followed including changes at Warren Harding, Congress, and Central High schools with salary bumps and new department heads.

May 10 Geneva report says the new Chinese government has abandoned its insistence on a seat on the League of Nations council. A Pekin commission under Long Chang Ming is to define China policy toward the league, while China’s overall relation to the league remains favorable.
A banquet honoring the Park City Giants basketball team was held Saturday at the Seven Gables Inn Milford. Misie Charlotte Lieberum received a silver loving cup for being Bridgeport’s best basketball player in 1924 25 and the Park City players were given golf signer rings with basketball emblems. Twenty workers were injured in Spain today in an explosion at the Ebro steel foundry.
Funeral services for Bernard Keating city auditor were held at his home 128 Park Place and at the Church of the Sacred Heart with a high mass of requiem. City hall business was suspended. Numerous officials and residents attended, including former mayors, attorneys, judges, and department heads, with many from outside the city. Burial followed at Mishael cemetery.
Walter W Garrity, 26, sworn in as city auditor to succeed the late Bernard Keating. He rises from deputy and will earn 6000 annually, with a 2000 bond rising to 5000. John Nelson remains assistant deputy. no staff changes planned. Mayor Behrens away hunting. appointment met with surprise but praise.
May 11 reports from Taris and Morocco say Abd el Krim declared a holy war and sent Ahmed to Xayen to raise Djebal tribes. French reinforcements assure tribes in the zone of protection as native Moroccan troops under French officers help establish a solid frontier chal ter. French forces advanced to their objective with no engagement reported.
Judge Beers of the City court discharged two prisoners charged with mutual assault after learning the altercation was linked to a daylight saving time dispute. The incident began when an argument over a public clock at 2614 Main Street led to a brawl halted by police, and the case was resolved in court yesterday.
Police are seeking Mia Angelina Palmier who vanished from her home on May 8. She left behind four children aged from 16 months to eight years, and authorities request information on her whereabouts. Palmier is described as petite with brown hair and brown eyes. Last known address is 101 Chopsy Hill Road.

Stratford Town council approved leasing 406 feet of Shore beach to the Bridgeport YMCA for 90 years at $1, with a renewal option of 18 years. The agreement preserves an 80 foot right of way to the Housatonic river high water mark and ensures public bathing access. The YMCA relinquishes any claimed interests to certain beach properties, ending a yearlong dispute.
