Goal stocks dwindle as strike holds out
Washington May 1 With the coal strike six weeks old tomorrow total production is 2 000 060 tons a week less than in the strikes of three years ago. Operators expected months business would break ranks of the azion minors but this has not happened. Storage available to the average consumer is rapidly nearing depletion. The geological survey reports production at a temporary level of about 4 000 000 tons a week with anthracite output practically zero. Consumption is met largely from storage and unless output rises stock cannot supply more than 4 090 000 tons weekly. The Ecological survey notes a significant drop in drinking miners but reports some returning to work in Texas. The Coal Review says President Harding has not moved toward intervening in the coal strike.
