Corn For Every District In Famine Areas

London May 10. Every district in Russian famine zones now has corn for adult feeding, via a cable from the American Relief Administration. Kazan, the last to receive it, got corn April 2, with 3200 horse teams delivering to nearby villages before the spring thaw blocks the Kama river. Spassk, among the worst, awaits food, while 25 percent of supplies reach destinations before thaw. Rail routes carry city rations first, and all ARA cargo moves in long trains to final points. Seventy thousand tons left Russian ports in March, and as thaw halts land transport, shipments pivot to Ribinsk and Tzaritzin, with corn stored until river navigation opens.
