Rusk Man of Year Honored in Scarsdale Ceremony

Secretary of State Dean Rusk was named Scarsdale Man of the Year amid 1300 attendees at Scarsdale High School. He urged reconciliation between generations and warned the public that fuller stories of secret talks could reshape views on Vietnam policy. Rusk noted his Rockefeller Foundation ties to Scarsdale and that his children attended local schools.

Johnson discussed possible overseas trip for Eisenhower

Admitted to hospital for throat polyp and incisional hernia repair. The White House said Johnson suggested the possibility of Eisenhower traveling to Asia and elsewhere during or after next spring. Johnson visited again less than a month later in December 1966 after Eisenhower's gall bladder removal. no specifics were given for the overseas plan.

Vatican to issue eight new coins with Paul VI portrait

Eight Vatican coins featuring a new portrait of Pope Paul VI will be issued on June 29. The 500 lire coin will be silver while the other seven use various alloys, marking five years of Paul VI’s pontificate. engraving by Giuseppe Pirrone. Shelton Man Dies After 2 Vehicle Crash in Stratford

Edgerton of Shelton sustained head injuries and lacerations after a northbound Notchick car blinded him with oncoming lights causing a loss of control in a head on collision. He was treated at Bridgeport hospital and faces negligent homicide charges upon release. Funeral notices honor Nat Notchick with services in Bridgeport and Derby. Stratford Town Manager Richard E. Blake is to report to the town council tonight after a private Bridgeport City Hall meeting with Mayor Curran about a Lewis Gut bridge. Curran said Bridgeport would share the bridge cost and discussed Stratford's possible purchase of Bridgeport Municipal Airport.

Ambassador at Large W Averell Harriman, 75, is reported in good condition at Columbia Presbyterian hospital after undergoing hernia repair Thursday. Mrs Donald J Brosius Sr, 47, of 40 Olcott Street Stratford, died Sunday at Middlesex Hospital. Funeral arrangements are in Stratford with burial to be announced.

Casualties Reported In Multiple Vietnam Helicopter Crashes

Weekend air and ground actions declined after several crashes. A twin-rotor Chinook near Kontum City reportedly killed 20 South Vietnamese and injured 24, but figures varied. Youth 18 Shot at Walter Street Hallway

Alfred Cannedy 18 of Am 202 Father Panik village was shot in the hallway of a building at 110 Walter Street during a Sunday 2 a.m. party. He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with a right abdomen wound and described as in fair condition. Detectives continued investigating with no information released.

Meriden Woman Killed in Bus Auto Crash in Willington

Mrs. Viola Gervais of Meriden, 20, was killed in a crash involving two cars and a bus on Interstate 84 near Willington. Police said 26 people rode the bus with two hospitalized. Gervais husband Joseph, 27, was treated for cuts at Hartford Hospital. The other driver, Arnold Lichtenstein, 22, of Far Rockaway, N Y, was released after treatment.

Bullet Wound Proves Fatal To Chicago Girl

Christine Mitchell a 17 year old junior at West Leyden High School died after a Wednesday shooting in the school corridor. Her former boyfriend Michael Pisarski 18 was charged with murder after her death and with aggravated assault for wounding athletic director Sidney Gerenstein. Gerenstein was shot in the thigh and listed in good condition.

Edward Healey longtime Raybestos employee dies in Stratford

Edward T. Healey of 79 Sunnybank Avenue Stratford dies yesterday at Bridgeport Hospital. Funeral services held at Charles W Dougiello and Sons Funeral Home and Our Lady of Grace Church with a solemn high requiem Mass. Survivors include wife Ellen Shortell Healey two sons Harold and Lawrence four daughters Eleanor Wade Lorraine Krokosky Veronica Mildred and Healey five great grandchildren twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. State Man in Hospital After Woods Ordeal

Clarence Hungerford, 70, recovered after two days in dense woods near Winsted. Found Saturday morning by about 60 rescuers including state and local police, firemen and volunteers amid rain and snow. Hungerford, last seen near Mrs Eunice McGinnie's Rt 219 home, is hospitalized in Barkhamstead.

AP Boston Bureau relocates to 260 Summer Street offices

The Boston Bureau of the Associated Press moved to the Estas Building at 260 Summer Street overlooking Fort Point Channel and Boston Harbor. The 5,250 square foot top floor office features acoustical ceilings, inset lighting, central heat and air, and three darkrooms. It houses more than 69 AP staffers.

Four Florida Women Drown When Car Sinks in Canal

In South Bay Florida four elderly women died when their car plunged into a canal on a Sunday trip to church. Driver Mary Pearch 65 of Miami escaped with no injuries after being pulled from the water by Robert Taylor 29 of Plantation. Identified victims were Helen Grace Warner 79 Belle Joyner 68 Jane McCrelis 81 and Virginia Dietrich 66 all of Miami.

LBJ Crime Commission Recommends Broad Sex-Crime Reforms

The LBJ Crime Commission proposes decriminalizing many consensual adult acts while tightening penalties for rape, child molestation, prostitution, and organized vice.
