Standard lines urged upon manufacturers

EB McCullough of the United States Chamber urged standardization and simplification of variety in manufactured articles at a Manufacturers’ Association meeting at the University Club. He argued many lines create costly diversity, citing 4,933 shotgun shell combinations and 17,000 catalog items, and said standardization would reduce capital tied up in materials, stock, templates, machinery, and floor space while cutting slow moving stock and improving sales and labor efficiency. P. J. Garrity spoke on the Fordney American valuation schedule. George M. Barnes presided.
