Plan Widens Westport Center Corner In Spring
Stport March 7 Plan Commission will start widening the corner of State Street and Riverside Avenue this spring. The commission considers cutting into Hunt and Downs southeast corner property for about 8 feet. Hunt and Downs reportedly want $19,000 for the land. Widening is planned to ease trolley and auto traffic as the steep street often blocks movement. If finished, the West Side Garage front owned by Jerry Keehan would be moved back two feet to align the street. Engineer William Wood Jr. has been hired to set building lines.
