Yale University will award the Cheney Fellowship funded by Cheney Brothers to a graduate chemistry biochemistry doctoral student. The $1,000 yearly grant for two years supports research aiming to advance silk chemistry and related processes used in the silk industry.
Westport resident R. P. Gormley of Mainstreet was arrested by Constable Bryan H. Sitk for passing a fraudulent check at the Hamilton Gift Shop in Norwalk on December 16. The check drew from Alfred R. Risse of 60 Broadway New York. He is held in the Norwalk jail.
