No Applicants for Hillside Nurses School Stirs Abandonment Talk
No applications were received by Superintendent Angus P Thorne of the Charities department for the proposed domestic nurses training school at Hillside Home. The project may be abandoned at the commissioners meeting, intensifying the need for more trained staff as 120 patients are now cared for by one attendant and two nurses, far above the pre‑crisis level. A resident physician is urged, and the commission planned an annual internship at Hillside starting April, with young women still able to apply.
