Star Mira vastly larger than the Sun measured by interferometer
A 20 foot interferometer atop Mt Wilson's 100 inch telescope helped Francis G Pease measure Mira Omicron Cet as a giant star about 166 light years away. The Carnegie Institute report notes Mira's diameter far exceeds the Sun, with multiple other stars previously measured by Pease.
