Bridgeport Hospital plans drive for 1928 expansion
Bridgeport and vicinity will be offered an opportunity to support an expansion of Bridgeport Hospital through a board endorsed campaign. If approved, 1928 will be named Hospital Year to fund a new east wing, a men’s ward, pathology, better equipment, and more nurses’ housing, extending radium cancer treatment and comprehensive care aligned with modern medical practice.

Stamford Phone Operator Awarded 429 in Auto Suit
Miss Vietti Walsh a Stamford telephone operator won a verdict of 429 in the civil side of Superior Court after a two day jury trial. The suit grew from a June 6 1926 auto collision on the Post road in Stamford that killed 18 year old Eugene H and injured Walsh. The defense denied negligence and cited contributory negligence by the plaintiff’s driver Charles Turner. Miss Walsh sought 5000 for medical expenses wages lost and injuries. The jury’s award covers her expenses and time lost, with the delay caused by a juror’s illness.

Singer Company Raises Dividend
New York March 11 A special dividend of 33.60 was declared by Singer Manufacturing Company in addition to the regular quarterly disbursement of 12.50 a share payable March 31. Dividends on preferred stock of Vivaudou resumed with 1.95 a share for January 21 to March 1, payable May 1 to stock of record April 15, and regular dividends of 1.76 each payable November.
