Germany Will Not Be Bound in Postwar Talks
The delegation led by the foreign minister states Germany will not be bound by a proposed plan in future negotiations, as Lloyd George and Briand rejected it. The Foreign Relations committees urge a formal declaration, noting their influence on the government. News from Germany shows a surge of national patriotism after Allied occupation and fears of friction from enforcing a 50 percent tax on German sales abroad. President Harding’s plan to defer a peace law with Germany disappoints those who warned against relying on America.
