Finance Boards Power Sparked by Fairfield Judge
Fairfield March 19 special. Town Counsel Jonathan Grout criticizes boards of finance for accumulating authority beyond original design. He notes repeal moves on road and sidewalk acts aim to restore town meeting control and limit delegated power while selectmen would oversee road work and sidewalks. Judges, businessmen, and residents discuss potential amendments to require multiple appointees and board oversight to curb excess power and improve road conditions.
