Urge Committee Be Named To Report in 1925 Whether Commissions Are Essential

Hartford March 8 An old problem reappeared before the Legislative Committee on the Judiciary. The hearing centered on abolishing county commissioners and placing duties under a business manager. Rep Dunham of Wethersfield urged a 1925 report on whether commissions should be abolished. The debate highlighted overlapping authority, lack of defined duties, and proposed reforms including popular election of commissioners. The session also covered exemptions for letter carriers using their own cars and funding for rural roads, plus a push to create a Mount Carmel state park preserving the Sleeping Giant area with local and Yale input.
