Disappearance of the Widow Still a Boston Mystery
The case centers on Irene Thompson, the so called widow of Ringling Brothers official Leger Thompson. She visited Boston in late 1924, wore a $3000 leopard coat and jewels valued at $19,000, and left for Macon, Georgia after a Buffalo telegram claimed her foster father awaited there. Irene vanished after leaving the Deuterio home, prompting police searches and circus inquiries. Local letters between Thompson and the Deuterios hint at mourning and unsettled family ties as investigators pursue the truth.
