New War Department Probe Comes Soon in Senate

Washington March 6 The Military committee will open in a week or ten days to probe the War Department and state of preparedness. Testimony already taken is said to suggest the public has been deceived by official reports. Chamberlain and Hitchcock will summon witnesses to verify and pursue information from reliable sources. The inquiry will examine troops bound for Europe, artillery and rifles, clothing, transports, motor trucks, and other supply positions. The delay is due to Chamberlain’s appendicitis operation and Hitchcock being out of the country.
