Limits on investment in home ownership urged by study

C T Moffett’s survey reported by Commercial Record warns that a family should not invest more than 2.5 times its fixed yearly income in a home. The study targets families earning 1500 to 5000 dollars annually and suggests caps on housing costs and heated versus unheated quarters. It argues a house meeting modern suburban standards costs at least 3750 dollars, equal to 2.5 times a 1500 dollar income, and that those earning under 1500 must rent cheaply rather than buy a house under 2500 dollars.
