Chicken Thieves Are Sentenced In New York Case
White Plains June 28 Three members of an outlaw chicken theft ring led by Edward Howard were sentenced in Westchester County court. Howard received two to four years in Sing Sing, his lieutenant Ben Denike got six months, and a third member faces pending charges. Additional suspects, Howard's son Peter, Frank Cook, and Fred Reddy, are held in Danbury Conn awaiting September Superior Court appearances for thefts and a burglary. Authorities say they confessed to numerous coop raids and thefts across Connecticut and New York as part of a statewide roundup.
