Three Injured When Car Hits Pole In Milford

A car traveling toward West Haven veered left struck a fence post on New Haven Avenue and rolled into a field. Three New Haven youths were hurt. Charles Byrd 23 and Richard Calabria 21 were unconscious on arrival at Milford Hospital. Manuel White 14 sustained minor injuries and likely would be released soon. Calabria faced possible head injuries and lacera tions. Byrd underwent surgery for internal injuries and was listed as poor but improving. Police charged Calabria with reckless driving as the car ended on the front lawn 1079 New Haven Avenue.

Last polio inoculation clinic today at Englewood hospital

The city Health Department hosts the final polio vaccination clinic today from 9 to 11 a.m. at Englewood hospital on Jewett street. The 50 cent fee may be waived for special cases. Earlier clinics this week saw over 2,000 people vaccinated.

CAB Bars Europe Plane Trip Planned by Teachers College

The Civil Aeronautics Board rejected Transocean Air Lines authority to operate a round trip to Europe for the Teachers College of Connecticut. 43rd Leaves for Camp Drum in convoy from Connecticut

The 43rd Infantry Division Connecticut National Guard begins a night motor march to Camp Drum New York with about 3,500 Connecticut soldiers in jeeps buses and trucks from Hartford Middletown Norwalk New Haven and Stamford. They will be joined by 3,500 more from Vermont and Rhode Island as state police and military police provide security along the route.

$20 000 Missing From N Y Police Headquarters Safe

New York detectives probe possible inside job after at least 20000 dollars and several guns vanish from a walk in safe in the police property clerk's office. Deputy Commissioner Walter Arm says only police knew the combination and the safe is in a secured area with a burglar alarm. The loss, labeled evidence or property, could affect cases as the money was in envelopes awaiting disposition. The office employs eightteen police clerks and five civilians, with civilians barred from the safe. An audit prompted the discovery and investigations expand to determine if any officer or staff member was involved.

Senate Retains Auto Excise Tax In Senate Vote

Westport June 20 The Senate kept the auto excise tax but trimmed other levies. Heavy rain kept events muddy at the Fairfield County Hunt Club show with Little Sailor and Waiting Home leading hunter classes. Black Atom won a trophy, while Next Chance took a first in the PHA event. The tax bill extends corporation tax and blocks reductions in auto, cigarette, and spirits taxes, preventing revenue losses estimated at 2.6 billion annually. it now returns to the House for action.

Army plans six minute space flight using Redstone missile

Adams Friend Agrees to Testify in Aides Scandal
