The Board of Education chose a 10 acre Chopsey Hill road site near Trumbull for a new elementary school and plans to pursue a City bond issue to finance the project and other expansion. Architect Toby Vece was named for the school to serve about 600 pupils, with about 20 rooms.

Sylvia N. Johnson vice principal of Roger Ludlowe High School and Fairfield pupil teacher for 42 years will retire at the close of this week. She notified Superintendent Dr. Carlyle B. Hoyt in May and plans to live with her sister in Bridgewater. Johnson began teaching in 1910 at Washington School and rose through Dwight Sherman to become principal of Sherman and later vice principal at the high school.

OPS 10 SUSPEND LIQUOR CEILINGS
The Office of Price Stabilization will suspend price ceilings on liquor this weekend due to big stocks and lagging sales. Officials say the move will have little effect on consumers since prices are already well below ceilings. Distillers and dealers have been awaiting the change.

Suspect Nabbed in Liquor Theft at Triangle Store
A 23 year old South End man identified as John Davis of 37 Union Square was arrested last night for a $650 liquor robbery at Triangle Liquor, 852 Main Street. He admitted the theft and was booked on breach of the peace charges, held on $2,500 bond. Arresting officers were Police Sgts. Dominic A. Conte and Joseph A. Walsh.

Five Men Burned on Sub Harder Incident at Groton
Five men were burned aboard the submarine Harder at Electric Boat in Groton during a flash fire and brief explosion. Peter Armenia of New London was in critical condition with third degree burns. Frank Cosentino of Everett Mass suffered second degree burns. Others treated and released included Charles Newell Gustave Johnson and Warren Gillard. The fire occurred in a confined area while Armenia operated the controls during dockside preparation for tests.

Chinese communists pushed six tanks and about 150 troops into fresh assault positions on the east central Korean front near Kumsong while delaying main attacks on the western front.
