Branch Savings Bank Branch Plans Challenged in Court

Arguments were heard before Judge Isaac Wolfe in Superior Court over Bridgeport Savings Bank's plan to open two new branches in East and West Bridgeport. The injunction seeks to restrain the branch openings amid a related state test of the law. Allies for competing banks argued against branches while the savings bank claimed such expansion would not violate its charter and would benefit the public. The court reserved decision.
