Fire department reports a dwelling on Carlson Drive in Milford suffered extensive damage from a blaze that started around 8:01 PM. The origin and cause were undetermined late last night with no injuries reported. investigators were to continue today.
Bridgeport study group drafts a preliminary ordinance to create a permanent housing commission. The panel may have five or seven members with ex officio mayoral and Common Council leaders. Terms, staffing, and hiring details await final decisions.
Connecticut regulators may rule by Friday on Northeast Utilities rate hike filing. Consumer Counsel David Silverstone seeks dismissal over wording in the application, risking unequal treatment for CL&P and HEC customers. A July 7 hearing is set on the dismissal motion, possibly delaying the increase. The utilities seek a $73.3 million rise, with a CL&P bill rising from 25.24 to 27.02 for 500 kWh.
