Tampa youth patrol helps curb violence after riots

The City Youth Patrol, 159 members in white helmets, patrolled Tampa streets to deter trouble amid riots sparked by a fatal police shooting. Officials praised the youths while pledging follow up action on jobs, housing, and recreation. The National Guard stayed on alert as police investigated injuries and two car fires with several shootings reported.
