Princeton Savant Denies A New Language For U S
Dr Henry Vand yke of Princeton University opposed a proposed new American language at a Columbia conference with Britah and American professors of English. He argued that English remains the native tongue of the United States and warned against slovenly speech. He noted dialects add flavor but criticized unintelligible, nasal speech in parts of the country. Dr Fred Newton Scott of Michigan added that improving American speech could ease Anglo American tensions.
