Fire destroys former Camp Omans dormitory building
A three story unoccupied building once serving Camp Omans in Bridgeport burned last night after 7. A $25,000 loss was reported as firemen battled the blaze that drew hundreds of spectators and caused traffic tie ups on Reservoir avenue. The fire started in a dining hall corner and was blamed on vagrants or children playing with matches. The 30 year old building had housed day camp activities for underprivileged children until 1955.
