Driverless Truck Rolls Down Hill Into Building on High Street

A driverless truck, parked 20 minutes earlier by Nicholas Captazzello of 410 Lexington Avenue, rolled downhill on High Street and struck a building owned by A. T. Dennis & Company, crushing steps and railing but causing only slight damage. The incident occurred around 1 o'clock yesterday, with no one aboard.

Connecticut Tobacco Growers to Probe Dissolution

Thompsonville June 12. Nearly 300 Connecticut Valley tobacco growers adopted a motion for immediate dissolution through receivership of the Connecticut Valley Tobacco Association Inc and a full investigation of past management. A 22-member committee was appointed to carry out the plan, amid widespread distrust of the association’s use of funds and leadership.

Train wreck in Dryden kills two on board

Engineer George Barnes and Andrew Pedkins, both of Auburn, died from burns after a Lehigh Valley passenger train wrecked at Borden station creamery switch in Dryden New York. About twenty passengers in a steel coach sustained bruises but no serious injuries. The mishap allegedly occurred when the engineer opened an inlet hatchet at the creamery, causing the engine to topple.

Chamberlin and Levine Pause European Flight Tour

Clarence Chamberlin and Charles Levine left Berlin for Baden Baden for a brief rest after the Bellanca Columbia malfunction paused their Europe tour. Fireman Halts Youth in Auto Theft Pursuit

Fireman Lawrence P Donovan of the Holyoke headquarters tackled a fleeing youth, Trandeau 18, as he tried to escape in a parked car on Middle Street. Patrolman O’Neil pursued, crowd gathered, and Trandeau was arrested on breach of the peace and investigation charges, bond set at 1980 dollars.

Lindbergh honors veterans with wreath at Arlington and Walter Reed

Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh placed a wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington and greeted maimed veterans at Walter Reed hospital.
