Wage reductions hit railway clerks warned in Chicago

Chicago June 11 The Associated Press reports wage reductions estimated at up to 40 million for 55 thousand additional railway employees as carriers seek lower wages through the Railroad Labor Board. The board’s decision, due within days, could take effect July 1 and total about 150 million dollars cut from annual payrolls. Clerks, about 300 thousand strong, face small cuts not exceeding five cents for most, while some senior clerks may avoid reductions. Despatchers and other supervisory clerical staff may be affected less, with shop craft supervisors previously cut remaining unchanged. Coal passers and stationary engineers also noted in the broad classification face adjustments. (Continue on Page Two)

Woman knocked unconscious by golf ball at Beardsley Park

Six Killed as Ferris Wheel Collapses in Bronx Hurricane

A hurricane unleashed fury on Clasons Point amusement park in the Bronx. A Ferris wheel crowded with youths collapsed, killing six and injuring more than forty. Whole family killed in Absecon grade crossing smash

June report from Atlantic City describes a fatal grade crossing crash when an express train struck the Stratton family car.
