State Police Question Barry Over 1924 County Thefts

State Police will question Barry about a 1924 series of burglaries in Southport Fairfield Greens Farms Westport and Norwalk as part of an investigation into a large jewel theft spree. Barry confessed to Nassau County police and may point to other crimes while a motor tour of Long Island is planned to revisit former crime scenes.

Resumes His Work and Dies From Apoplexy in Fairfield

Bomenit Costello, a Fairfeld resident of Starl borough, collapsed at work at Kings Hispany Pairftelet shorth after noon esterola and died from apoplexy. He had resumed his duties after lunch. Father of Anthony W Costello, president of Knox Heights Improvement, and a longtime Fairfield Republican. Survived by three other children and several grandchildren. Funeral set for Saturday at 8:00 am from his residence with high mass at SS Michaels and batrcharges behind. He worked for Bridgeport Construction on a new state highway project near the Jewish cemetery. City ambulance aided and the body was removed to the crematorium.

Explosions Shake Bridgeport From Slag Dumping

Fairfield avenue hotel to be city’s tallest building

The American Hotels corporation plans a 14 story Fairfield avenue hotel with 12 to 14 levels and an arcade linking Elm Street. It will cost about 9.8 million and include 19 stores in the enclosed arcade with a 21 year lease and renewal option. Construction is set to start August 1.
