Wanda at 433 John Street says she gave many New Thought books and funds estimated 400 to 500 dollars, not returned or paid.
Wanted by multiple cities and federal authorities for alleged wholesale swindling, a man using the name William E Barnes was arrested by Detective Joan J Garrity in a restaurant at 524 Howard Avenue. Barnes is accused of a clever advertising swindle in Birmingham Atlanta Fort Worth and other cities under aliases including Tom William Clevenger J Wi Crane J W Clark W T Windsor W T Boyd and W T Fletcher. Three former prohibition enforcement agents on the staff of Prohibition Officer Thomas McAnniffe were suspended for drunkenness and submitted resignations to avoid action in Washington. Joseph Reynolds John Hogan and Edward Morahan were the agents involved in the incident.
Duffield of New Jersey elected chairman of the credentials committee at the Republican national committee hearings in Chicago. Taube of Washington named secretary. Contests focus on 137 decisions with many appeals. Oregon cites a contest for one seat at large. Negro delegates face loss as charges of race discrimination are thrown out and regulars are seated.

CHICAGO June 3 The Republicans resolutions committee organized and elected Senator Watson of Indiana as chairman. The panel moved into hearings and conferences to draft the party platform with a flood of applications expected and the need for near continuous sessions to finalize agenda for submission to the convention.
