The piece argues Mussolini uses autocratic deflation to stabilize the lira and debt, citing Grandi’s plan, rising bond attractiveness, and a 1936 surplus. It proposes a fair compounding of public and private debts to pinpoint a center of gravity for prices and wages, aiming to prevent further price drops and violent fluctuations in Italy’s corporative state.
