EASTON June 1 State police and deputy sheriffs pressed armed manhunt for Robert Edwards in a fanatical pursuit through the forests near Pleasant Valley. Coroner Phelan heard inquest testimony from Mrs Swenson and relatives who said Edwards shot his wife and threatened others, with police suspecting possible derangement amid a mounting search.
A hive swarm of thousands of bees halted traffic in central Stamford for about three hours. Police officer Charles Engstrom was stung and withdrew, replaced by bee keeper Van derwerken who tranquilized and moved the hive to safety. William H. Jessup watched as bees settled on his porch and yard before officers summoned expert help.
Paris June 1 The Chamber of Deputies faced a turbulent session as Socialists and Royalists clashed amid interpellations on Royalist activity. A large blaze at the City dump on Noble and Boston avenues started at 3 40 yesterday, tying up fire crews until early morning. About 200 feet of hose kept the dump area soaked as authorities suspect youths caused the incendiary fire. A curtain near 20 Bostwick avenue suffered minor damage from the gas jet fire.

Milford June 1 Joseph B Maher nineteen year old son of Mr and Mrs John Maher of Woodmont has been notified as a successful candidate from the United States Navy at large to pass entrance examinations for the United States Naval Academy Annapolis He is ordered to report July 10 a Milford High School class of 1921 grad He entered navy about a year ago to study radio assigned to Hampton Roads Va then Graat Lakes Naval Station took exams for navy at large last April and passed with high marks He will spend a 30 day furlough with his parents before reporting to Annapolis.
