Four Maxwell trucks operated by Smith's Transfer and Storage of Washington DC took part in a major highway operation moving the LA Emergency Fleet Corporation's furniture and office equipment from the national canal to Philadelphia. Despite being more overloaded and cheaper than other trucks, the Maxwells reached Philadelphia without mishap and were first in Washington on the return trip.
Bridgeport auto dealers joined 160 percent enthusiasm at a mass meeting and luncheon in the Hotel Brunswick Boston under the National Automobile Dealers Association. The gathering highlighted wartime support to Liberty Loan War Savings Stamps and urged New England dealers to advocate fair tax treatment while expanding association membership and coordinating with Washington on revenue plans. The event featured I. W. A. Vesper as president addressing plans affecting all New England dealers.
Reno Nevada July 28 cover 275 miles on July 17 its first day out from San Francisco the Maxwell Military Express relaying a load of military supplies from Australia to France via the Lincoln Highway made its first stop in Reno. The truck faced steep grades and 7800 foot climbs over the Sierra Nevada with a brief Reno stop for mail and fuel before continuing to Lustgate Nevada through harsh desert and mountain passes.
