The passenger steamer Martha, recently bought by the Waring Operating Co, ran aground near Penfield Reef between the lighthouse and shore. It was refloated late yesterday, docked in Bridgeport, and reported undamaged. The incident occurred after leaving Bridgeport for supplies.
Bank robbers struck the Credit Union Francais in Central Falls, entering as doors opened and binding a teller and a woman clerk. They escaped with about 311,000 in cash and valuables, slipping away in an awaiting automobile before police arrived.
