President Coolidge delivers a White House address on reverence for nature law and God as the three foundations of Boy Scouts and American institutions. He urges scouts departing for an international gathering to show patriotism and to contribute to global well being and right living.
The Bridgeport United States Naval Reserve unit sails this morning on the submarine chaser C-103 for a week end cruise. The chaser, based here since last Saturday, arrived from New Haven.
Caldwell, member of the Board of Education and Assessors, was named successor to Postmaster Arthur Connor. He is a Republican state central committeeman from the 28rd senatorial district. The district delegates met last night at the city convention meeting called by Mrs Eloise Peabody.
Court heard Leopold dismiss murder as crime, claiming punishment to be the risk of being caught. Witness Gartland recounted calls for doom, studies of criminal law, and plans for death by poisoned headache medicine. Pistols found in Leopold study and remarks about violence surfaced as prosecutors portrayed a calculated crime.
E C Giles an 8 year old from Chaumont died suddenly at 4 hotel while attending his divorce proceedings in Watertown New York. Giles was a former Chief of police at Tupper Lake and a former member of state troopers.
In White Plains a warrant charges Dr William J Meyers sister Mrs Margaret Ackerman with grand larceny. The affidavit states she cashed a 845.70 check and falsified the cash book. Police say Ackerman is at large while investigators search for two missing Meyers children.
The petition argues a separate sanitary and storm sewer plan is part of the general disposal scheme. Attorneys claim costs should fall on the whole city as a general improvement. The storm sewer was needed to fix drainage but allegedly served to pave Grant Street and divert Barnum Avenue traffic. A sanitary sewer exists under private ownership and the owners say the extra sewer was not requested and opposed. The assessment method is described as novel with 63 signatures, and a council presentation is planned to keep proceedings regular.

July 25 New Haven report on Catherine Brinski of North Guilford shot in the breast during target practice. The gun was believed empty when Stanley Vrelukos fired, then turned toward Mrs Brinski and discharged. Coroner Ed Mix opened an investigation and ordered witnesses for tomorrow.
Los Angeles report says Mayor John F. Hylan of New York is not unalterably opposed to seeking the gubernatorial nomination. He may run if the progressive element in the state demands it, the Los Angeles Examiner notes.
Miss Mary Sanders aged 14 to marry her eighth husband AL J Pullers aged 96 Sunday afternoon. Six of her former husbands were Confederate soldiers. Both are inmates of the Jefferson Davis Soldier's Home in Bhauvoin Mississippi. Uncle Pat McLaggatin, a 104 year old Confederate veteran, will be best man.
William W. Richards, Harvard class of 55, aged 89 and longtime Hackensack educator, died at his daughter's home in New York. He is survived by a widow and six children. Wanda Winkiel, once a nurse, now builds 84 houses at Mackenth, L I, employing 209 men.
Frank Connelly of Straed entered the Emergency department late yesterday with a bleeding forehead and multiple deep gashes. He said he had been part of a gambling game, won, and was then attacked by other players who struck him with a crowbar. He was treated with two stitches and urged to report to police.
