Two Erie Railroad Workers Die In Jersey Yard Accident

Jersey City July 15. John Johnson formerly of Belfast Maine and John Cornette Erie railroad employees were instantly killed by an Erie train at Black Bridge in the Croxton yards. Two other workers uninjured walked the track nearby. Johnson, 38, lived at 116 Paonia Avenue Jersey City. Cornette, 26, a mason's helper, resided in the Erie laborers camp in Serancus.

STATE COLLEGE Pa July 15 By Associated Press How science meeting the problem of fuel exhaustion was demonstrated by chemists of renown at today's session of the Institute of Chemistry of the American Chemical Society. Louis Jones said nitrogen in the atmosphere will furnish unlimited fertilizer through ammonia synthesis, delaying famine fears. Dr Hans Tropach of the Kalter Wilhelm Institute in Germany spoke on coal producing liquid motor fuels, vital for oilless countries, via the Tropsch process. Jones asserted fears of nitrate limits were dispelled by new catalytic developments lifting food production fears.

Police Crash Door in Norwalk Raid

Norwalk police conducted six liquor raids and seven arrests in a sweep from 4 to 6 pm. W H Busch a twenty year old Boston youth attempting a New York to Boston record halted in Bridgeport after 61 hours of constant running with minimal sleep. He pushed through heat and road fatigue, losing his way near Stratford, and stopped briefly in a restaurant for rest and nourishment. Road oil fire torches Kings highway in Fairfield

A fire of unknown origin last night at 9 o clock destroyed barrels of road oil owned by the State Highway Department on Kings highway in Fairfield. Burglars steal $20,000 in furs on hot day in New York

On one of the hottest days of the year burglars stole about $20,000 worth of furs from a loft on 26th Street. Entry was gained by cutting a hole through the floor above and workers found the theft when they discovered the stock room missing today.
