Vilna defense sees Madame Goeres command about 1000 women under a self supplied transport and kitchen system. Women fighters, largely factory workers, are equipped with American boots and fed by the Young Women’s Christian Association. They hold an eight mile front, claim women can stand alongside men on the front line. Refugees flood Vilna and Warsaw as Bolsheviks clash with Polish and Lithuanian forces.

General Pablo Gonzales a former presidential candidate and Brigadier Generals Carlos Garcia and Jose Santos were captured near Monterey this morning, per the war department. An unconfirmed report says Gonzales is court martialled in Monterey on rebellion charges. The war department views him as the revolt’s intellectual head. Reports also say Generals Osuna, Guaisida, and Irene Villareal with Ricardo Gonzalez attacked Nuevo Laredo and were repulsed. women helped defend the city.
LAREDO Tex July 15 The first attack by about 410 disaffecteds under General Ricardo Gonzalez on Suevo Laredo across the Mexican border was repulsed by 200 Obrezonnas and customs guards. Three attackers were wounded and several killed while nine defenders were reported killed. The raid appeared preliminary to gauge best points for a further assault as Monterrey reports widespread arming and bandit activity along the border with Gonzales forces said to have captured Candela and Lampasos and to be razing bands from Ibarede. Some deserters and customs guards switched sides recently.

German ministers lean toward accepting Allied vote on coal demands and will decide in cabinet morning. Dr Simons says talks with Millerand Lloyd George eased tension. Marion Ohio July 15 Senator Harding rejects third party fusion as a serious threat to Republican plans saying the movement lacks appeal to farmers and labor and will not alter his campaign. He noted La Follette declined to join and reinforced confidence in the GOP platform ahead of his acceptance speech scheduled for next week.
Governor Holcomb signed extradition papers for Frank Laneve who was arrested in White Plains on suspicion of the September 13 1919 Fairfield murder of Lorenzo Jalla. Laneve will be transported to Fairfield for trial by State Police Sergeant Franti Virgil.
Ohio Governor James M. Cox plans a Sunday conference with President Wilson in Washington to discuss securing Tennessee ratification of the federal suffrage amendment. Delegates and suffrage leaders, including Miss Alice Paul, arrive for Cox’s acceptance speech, which may omit prohibition.
Judge John W. Banks issued a temporary injunction restraining city authorities from enforcing the recently adopted ordinance barring bus owners from operating on principal streets. Attorney J B Klein represented jitneymen seeking relief. A hearing is set tomorrow to decide whether the injunction will be dissolved or made permanent. Previous attempts by jitneymen and City Attorney William H. Comley Jr. to obtain injunctions were disputed amid ongoing debate over remedies and potential bus service changes.
Fusion Nominee Parey Pl Christensen, pick of the Parmer Labor party for president, plans a coast to coast tour from border to border. He said he will depart tonight from Salt Lake City and will announce further plans once national and campaign committees meet.
Three army planes on a New York to Nome Alaska flight landed in Erie at 3 PM. Plane No 1 under Captain Sterrett was lost in fog after departing Mineola and has not been heard from. Planes 3 and 4 arrived uneventfully and will wait for Sterrett’s plane before continuing to Grand Rapids Michigan.
In New Haven court, Natzee seeks bankruptcy protection amid a breach of promise case linked to a marriage threat. The petitioner lists assets and liabilities, including a disputed judgment against Miss Martin. The case, carried from last winter, concerns a threatened marriage pact with ongoing questions about eligibility and court actions.
