Three women drowned off Southport after being caught by a tide as aldermen plan Monday meetings to discuss jitneys. In Dublin, De Valera and Lloyd George meet at Downing Street to intensify efforts for Irish peace, expressing cautious optimism about progress without sacrificing Erin’s rights.
Sir Craig, the premier, has been summoned to London to confer with Prime Minister Lloyd-George on the Irish situation. Sir James is presently in residence in Brest.

Frank Murphy, former steward aboard the Modesty, described cocktails and champagne during a cruise to Miami tied to James A. Stillman. Florence Leeds and Stillman were seen together on the yacht with Mrs Leeds in his stateroom, fueling sharply charged misconduct claims during the trial. The Harlem river mooring and Twenty third Street pier locations are noted with references to yacht life and contraband refreshments.
Lawrence mass July 14 three thousand members of building trades unions ended a fifteen week strike over wage cuts. They will return to work tomorrow accepting a fifteen percent wage reduction and open shop until July 28 when another conference will decide further steps.
Secretary Weeks said he would seek Congress authority to accept Henry Ford's proposal to acquire the government nitrate plant at Muscle Shoals Alabama. The deal includes a lease for 100 years at one million two hundred thousand dollars annually and a cash payment of five million for lands and equipment. The offer was found substantial and Ford Detroit presented the plan.
Three sisters, wives and mothers, drowned gathering clams on a sand bar off Southport as tide rose in strong wind. The bodies washed ashore near Willow Street, Southport, after a boy witnessed the surf engulf his mother and aunts. The dead are daughters of John Harlow of Westport.
The House ends general debate on the Fordney tariff bill and plans seven days of amendments and debate. Margaret Barbery had been missing since early Wednesday from 179 Pine Street. She and her baby were found yesterday morning by George B. Sherwood of Southport, asleep under a tree. Mrs Barbery is believed mentally el deteriorated.
In Cleveland Ohio July 14 the Eva Catherine Kaber murder trial nears verdict as defense argues insanity while the judge orders medical witnesses to press on. The defendant has refused to testify and was briefly carried to her chair after a collapse.
Washington July 14. Assistant Secretary Roosevelt announced navy yards and shore stations will operate five days a week temporarily to prevent drastic reductions in personnel under reduced appropriations. Saturday will be the enforced holiday, though some protest voices preferred a half Saturday holiday during summer rather than a full cut.
ST. LOUIS July 14 The Pia Voring Extract Manufacturers association in convention today was asked to make extracts so they would be unfit for intoxicating beverage purposes. James M Doran chief of the government chemistry bureau urged action. He said enforcement faces a major problem in stopping legitimate suppliers who ship alcohol for illegitimate uses.
Bridgeport jitney men press legal challenge after the Public Utilities Commission denies permits for more than 300 buses after midnight. Mayor Wilson calls a special Aldermen meeting for Monday to authorize lawyers and pursue court action while buses continue to operate pending decisions.

Police seized a home-made distilling plant at 27 Shelton Street in Astill Hoki’s residence. Tony Hoki, owner, held on $500 bail after police found a five gallon still, barrels of mash, and large quantities of distillate to imitate whiskey. The second such find in a week.
