Bombers Renew Attack On Blazing Pyongyang

North Korea capital Pyongyang suffered the night raid by sixty five B 29 Superforts in the largest air assault of the war. The raid followed 856 daylight strikes by allied fighter bombers and hit supply and industrial targets near Pyongyang Hamhung Kyomipo and Sinmak. Planes from HMS Ocean Bon Homme Richard and Princeton aided in three waves with fighter bomber and air cover.

New York, July 11 AP A small brunette named Barbera Rubi who slapped Patrolman Carmine De Franco was saved from 30 days in jail when her husband paid a $50 fine. Rubi, 5 feet 4 inches and 112 pounds, said she would rather pay a nickel. She told the magistrate Ranger the dog was not city bred and comes from New Jersey.

Permit Granted For TV Station In Bridgeport

The FCC issued a permit yesterday to the Southern Connecticut and Long Island Television company for a new ultra high frequency station in Bridgeport. Philip Merryman, president and GM, said the outlet could be on air by year’s start. Merryman also heads Bridgeport Broadcasting and radio WICC. The grant was among 14 new stations approved in nine communities without prior local service.

STAFF REPORTER CHICAGO July 11 Connecticut's Republican delegation led by Governor Lodge secured a decisive win for Gen Dwight D Eisenhower at the national convention. Lodge and state leaders backed Eisenhower in the bitter Taft-Eisenhower struggle, sending 21 of 22 votes to Eisenhower on roll call while Nelson L Carpenter of Canterbury held out for Taft as Minnesota shifted to Eisenhower after Stassen released 19 votes.

Dog Causes Crash Injuring Easton Man

A dog leaped from a parked car on Sports Hill Road and triggered a crash that seriously injured Clifford Linley, 56, of Center Road. Linley suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to Bridgeport Hospital by Easton ambulance. his condition was listed as fair. Ronald Q. Allen, 37, of Booth Hill Road, Trumbull, driver of a Continental Bakins truck, was arrested for violating state auto laws after the incident around 1 15 p.m. near Orchard Road.

Chicago July 11 CAP It was a Minnesota coup a climactic switch by the Gopher delegation changed the vote total past the 604 needed to nominate General Dwight D Eisenhower for the presidency. Daniel C Gainey of Owatonna credited with engineering the move. Twenty four of Minnesota's delegation backed Stassen on the first ballot while four supported Eisenhower, a shift planned by Senator Edward J Thye who tracked the total on an envelope as the roll call continued.
